I’m not someone who fills my kitchen with things just to make it look good. I want the items I actually use every day to be functional, easy to grab, and actually make life easier.
These are the things I reach for constantly. Nothing overcomplicated, just the items that have become part of my everyday routine.
The actual items I use in my kitchen will be linked below. Links may be affiliate links, which means that I may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you.
My Sink Setup
The sink area is one of those spots that can feel cluttered really quickly, so I try to keep it as simple as possible.
Even small changes, like using a consistent soap setup or keeping things contained, make it feel more put together without adding extra effort.
What I keep here:
- Soap and Lotion Dispenser – I love that it’s clean and confined and pretty
- Sponge Holder – I use a holder that suctions inside the sink, it’s great because it ensures the sponge dries and doesn’t get funky and it also keeps the sponge out of sight so the kitchen looks nicer
- Dish Rack – I honestly hate having a dish rack on the counter…it’s sort of a necessary evil IMO. I recently ordered a low-profile dish rack that folds up so nicely when it’s not in use which I LOVE because I’m able to keep that eyesore off my counters
- A Pretty Bowl – I don’t like washing dishes with my engagement ring on, so I keep a bowl at the sink as a place for me to put my ring when I’m cleaning if necessary. The one I currently use is a glass bowl and I love that it doesn’t feel heavy on the counter. That specific one is no longer available, but I linked ones that are similar
It’s not anything complicated, but having a setup that works makes a big difference in how the space feels every day.
The Tools I Reach For Every Day
There are a handful of tools I grab constantly without even thinking about it—and those are the ones that actually matter.
For me, that includes:
- A Chopper Box Gadget – We use this multiple times a week and it’s so easy and convenient!
- Mixing Bowls – I love to bake and these bowls with the silicone bottoms are amazing because they keep the bowl in place while you’re mixing
- Cutting Boards – I recently ordered these “book” cutting boards, I love that they are easily identifiable to keep different foods separated and look pretty on the counter
These aren’t flashy, but they’re the things I’d immediately notice if they were gone.
My Go-To Cleaning Essentials
I’m big on having things that are easy to use and easy to keep consistent, and these are the cleaning items I use all the time.
What I use:
- Trash Bag Dispenser – These are so much easier than dealing with the box, and its great that you can stack them so they save space under the sink
- Quartz Counter Cleaner & Stainless Steel Cleaner – I use the counter cleaner every night and the stainless cleaner weekly (sometimes more if the kids get more fingerprints than normal on the fridge and it’s driving me crazy lol), these are my favorites
- Roll of Microfiber Towels – I use these constantly for cleaning and love that they’re easy to store and can be washed and reused like “regular” microfiber towels
Having these on hand makes it way easier to stay on top of things without it feeling like a whole project.
The One Item That Made The Biggest Difference
This is one of those things that feels small—but I notice it every single day.
I added motion-sensor under-cabinet lights, and they’re honestly one of my favorite upgrades. They’re magnetic, super easy to install, and I just take them down to charge about once a week.
It makes the kitchen feel better, look better, and function better—especially at night.
My Day-to-Day Sourdough Setup
I bake sourdough regularly, so having a simple setup that I actually use makes everything easier.
I keep it pretty minimal—just the basics that help me stay consistent.
What I use:
- Brod & Taylor Starter Jar
- Brod & Taylor Sourdough Home
- My Favorite Spatula for Starter
- Disposable Containers for Discard
Nothing extra—just the things I use every day.
At the end of the day, the best kitchen upgrades aren’t the ones that just look good—they’re the ones you actually use.
These are mine—the things I reach for every day and would absolutely choose again.
If you’re trying to simplify your kitchen, start with one small change—it really does add up.
